Danny Gatton

Danny Gatton was born in Washington D.C. in 1945. He started his musical career as a teenager and began to attract attention soon afterwards. Gatton made a name for himself as a guitar player in the greater D.C. area during the 80's with his "redneck jazz explosion", where Gatton would trade licks with Buddy Emmons, an excellent pedal steel guitar plater. Their music was a combination of country, rock-a-billy, blues, and jazz.

Known by some as "the Telemaster" (a combination of the Fender Telecaster, Gatton's guitar of choice, and "Master"). He was also called "the world's greatest unknown guitarist". His most common nickname however was "The Humbler". The following video will show you how he earned these names....

  1. I can't decide what's more amazing. The way Danny Gatton played guitar or the fact that there were actually people out there who could follow him and back him up.
