Hooray For Earth
Yes, Hooray For Earth wins the worst band name ever award. But Young Replicant - the directing duo responsible for my absolute favorite music video of all time - really rocked this one. Turn up your speakerz.

DannielRadall

This is a Must Listen. That's as simple as I can put it.
His Genre in iTunes is listed as Miami Vice.
Download this EP for free here.
(I like to think this second song sounds like Alice In Chains if they were still, you know, alive and making killer dance music. RIP.)

Bonobo - Black Sands

I'm late to the party on this one. Yes, I had heard of Bonobo. In fact, there's a phenomenal song by him on the Miss January mixtape. However, I slept on his CD Black Sands from last summer. And man, what a tragedy. This might be my favorite album, front to back, that I've heard in a long time. Below are some highlights.
This is the intro to the cd...
and two more favorites...

Thursday Three-Pack
Julian Lynch's new album comes out reeeeaaaaaaal soooooooon. Here's our first taste - a laid back track that the album is named for - Terra.
Chad Valley - Portuguese Solid Summer
The unofficial video for a super warm song. dig it mucho.
And of course, a little Star Slinger doing what he does best (and will be doing this saturday at Subterranean). The song is called Elizabeth Fraser.

Take - Begin End Begin
Time for some Chi-town ad community love. This video for artist Take was directed by former coworker Anthony Ciannamea, co-directed by another former coworker Ryan Sievert, and stars a third, David Cuesta.
The song is just ok. Total electronica - very glitchy, and takes a while to get going. But major kudos are due to those dudes on a smooth lookin video.

16 year old UK guitarist/songwriter Zoo Kid and his song Out Getting Ribs. One of the YouTube comments puts it best, "Uk gets him and we got screwed with beiber wtf."

Freddie Gibbs

Freddie Gibbs is from Gary, IN. Dirty rap. Good shit. Here are a few examples, and you can grab his latest effort for free on his Bandcamp page, which also has this gem of an album detail message, "Str8 Killa No Filla - fuck a description."
Well put Freddie.

20/2010 - A Best-Of Compilation

It's December 1st. It's time to get a jump on this year's best-of lists (which we'll no doubt be inundated by shortly). So here's mine, in mixtape form. It's called 20/2010 - my top 20 songs of 2010. You can download it for free HERE. It features a lot of the artists that have been featured on this blog, LCD Soundsystem, Curren$y, The National, Das Racist to name a few...along with a few 2010 one-hit-wonders.
Here's a pic of all the tracks:

Lemme know what you think. In joy.

Delorean/Lemonade
Saw Delorean at Lincoln Hall last night (as did Cole who may do a post on the show), and it was pretty great. A band called Lemonade was the second opener (after an awful set by The Light Pollution), and I found this song today.

Benoit Pioulard

Some really great stuff to share this week. This is Benoit Pioulard (aka Thomas Meluch). He's a multi-instrumentalist that reminds me of a combination Owen Pallett and Jose Gonzalez. His recently released album 'Lasted' is a work of art. The following songs below are excellent, but the album really shines when enjoyed front to back. Definitely pick it up if you like what you hear.
Benoit Pioulard - Tack & Tower
Benoit Pioulard - Sault
Benoit Pioulard - Tie
