Been tracking James Blake for a while now, with a few small dubsteb tracks and remixes leaking over the US from the UK last year. He's got a sound I'm not sure how to really describe on this album - he started as more of a dubstep guy but with a post-1999-Radiohead-twist (see the last video below). Recently he put out the CMYK EP, and shortly after we got the Feist do-over of "Limit to Your Love" (I prefer the latter better than the original). Just released now, finally, is his full length, which after a couple of listens is everything I hoped it'd be. It's a little less dubstep-ish, but still heavy on deep bass and trancey rhythms, with his own spooky and swooning voice added to the picture. Enjoy a few tracks below, and grab the album!
Some older dubsteb-ish type Blake:
What's the deal with all of these athletes turned musicians showing up on TSAD? First Johnny Flynn leaves the T-Wolves to play folk music, now James Blake shuns the pro tennis circuit in favor spacey soulful jams.
